Friday and Saturday, September 16th and 17th, 2016

In June of 1866, a new dental school was opened in St. Louis, the first dental school west of the Mississippi River. In June of 1991, the Washington University School of Dental Medicine graduated its last class, 125 years after it opened as Missouri Dental College. In the 125 years of operation, the school had five different names and six different locations and was the gateway to many advances in Dentistry.

β€œThe proud tradition of the Washington University School of Dental Medicine will be fondly remembered, a long as we keep it alive in our hearts and minds.” β€” Jack Gilster, June, 1991

2016 will be the 150th year since the opening of the Dental School and will also mark 25 years since the closing of our Alma Mater. Your Alumni Association is planning an extra special Sesquicentennial Celebration to mark the occasion. We have reserved the Starlight Room at the Chase Park Plaza Hotel. This elegant roof top room provides a beautiful view of the City and Forest Park and is a lovely setting for this celebration.

Sesquicentennial Weekend Schedule of Events:

Our annual reunion weekend is shaping up to be the largest in a very long time. So large we have unfortunately reached capacity for our venues. There are 300 people who are registered and the Starlight Room at the Chase has a capacity of 300. So the fire marshals say no more. So please accept our apologies if you were planning on coming at the last minute. We will not be able to accommodate you for the banquet. WE ARE SOLD OUT. For those of you who are registered, here is our review of our weekend.

Friday Evening:

Traditional Reception/Cocktail Party, 5:50 - 7:30pm at the Alumni House, 6420 Forsyth Blvd, main campus. Shuttle buses will take people from the Chase/Lindell access, beginning at 5:00pm. Beginning around 7:00pm (so classes are able to honor their dinner reservations) shuttles will take larger classes to their respective restaurants and begin returning people to the Chase. Shuttles will have destination placards.

Please be in communication with your class leaders for additional assistance.

After dinner, shuttles will be available for return drop offs at the Chase up to 11:00pm; THERE WILL BE NO SHUTTLE SERVICE AFTER THAT!

UBER is an option, but you must download the UBER APP: www.www.uber.com

Yellow Cab is an option: 314-656-6705

Saturday Evening:

Morning CE beginning at 8:00am in the Lindell Ballroom of the Chase. A continental Breakfast is included. This usually wraps up around noon.

Afternoon provides some down time. There is a new Blues Museum downtown, The City Museum is a one of a kind treat, The Art Museum, History Museum & Zoo all are in Forest Park, a Brewery Tour, and the Botanical Gardens are all nice ways to spend the afternoon. Of course lounging poolside at the Chase is pretty great too.

Evening brings us to the Banquet. The Reception for the Banquet begins at 6:30 pm with Dinner at 7:30 pm in the Starlight Room at the Chase. This venue affords a spectacular view of the Park. The Banquet usually concludes around 10:00 - 10:30pm. As we said, we are at capacity, so our former policy of allowing people to walk up & pay for the Saturday evening Banquet at the door will not work this year.

The Chase has agreed that after dinner, all Alumni are invited to rejoin the gathering for the Award presentations!

As an alternative, groups of Alumni are gathering in various hotel and area restaurants to dine together until the Award presentations begin; approximately 9:30pm. Class leaders and others will text to let them know, prior to the presentations, when to rejoin the group. Please accept our sincerest apologies for this disappointing development; we hope that you will be able to join your fellow classmates and Alumni after dinner in the Starlight Room for the Award presentations, the honoring of the Anniversary classes and class photos! This will be the largest Alumni event as far back as we can remember!! We are very much looking forward to seeing everyone at the Reunion!!!!
